Stone arches, balconies, windows and wells - it's an ideal place to discover the Gothic architecture of Catalonia. All buildings are made of stone of the same breed, this gives the impression that you are in a castle- or fortress-city. Even on the hottest summer day coolness exudes from the stone walls аnd walking along the cobbled streets is extremely enjoyable. The name of the town of Peratayada comes from Piedra Tallada - "carved stone." The heart of Peratayada is a medieval castle, around which the city itself began to grow. According to written sources, the castle was built in 1065.
One of the main attraction of Pals is St Peter's Church, built in 994. Come over and give yourself a couple of minutes of silence and meditation, this place is filled with extraordinary energy. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes - green hills, lakes, and rivers there is the main attraction of Peralada - the medieval castle of the princes of Rocaberti (Castillo Perelada). Adjacent to it there is the building, where the Dominican monastery Nuestra Señora del Carme, founded in 1206, was previously located.
