A fascinating excursion to the Languedoc region - the historical part of the south of France.
In the beginning, we will go to the beautiful city of Narbonne and see its main attractions! Narbonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur de Narbonne). It is the only cathedral in the Gothic style on the Mediterranean coast, comparable to the cathedrals of Northern France. it is interesting that Sant Just remained unfinished since at the time of construction in the early 1300s it was considered too risky to demolish the Roman fortress wall located nearby. As a result, the cathedral has no nave.
The old palace of Le Palais Vieux. You can enter the old palace courtyard - Le Cour de la Madeleine - through the gates above which the bell tower of Saint-Theodard and the Cathedral of Narbonne tower.
Archbishop's Palace - Le Palais Neuf. Located on the north side of the main square of Narbonne, the archbishop's palace is a miracle of Gothic architecture.
Bakery Patisserie Combot. This place is famous in Narbonne for its sweet cakes and pastries. Do not miss the opportunity to try their branded bouchons du Languedoc, from a sponge cake made on honey with almonds with the addition of pine nuts.
After, we will advance to the surroundings of the La Clape massif (16 km from Narbonne), surrounded by the sea and Ayrolle pond. In its very heart, there is the island of Saint-Martin with an area of more than 400 hectares. It is bordered by the old village of Gruissan and the island can be reached on foot.
We will also visit salt production on Solonchak, an eco-museum, and a "salt" boutique. Here you can buy salt by weight, with various additives! In the museum, you can see how salt was mined at the beginning of the 20th century: tools of the salt worker, fauna and flora of salt waters.
Another place we will visit is the Pierre Richard's wine cellar! It is near Narbonne. Richard acquired the first 20 hectares of land in Le Domaine De L'Eveque vineyards back in 1986. We will have a unique opportunity to taste and purchase the actor's signature wines.
