Catalonia is a real pearl on the Mediterranean coast! It's distinguished not only by luxury beaches and nature but also a rich historical past.
During the excursion, we will visit three most picturesque medieval towns of this region.
Besalú. A picturesque town, a national monument of Spain. It's also called "an open-air museum" - such a huge number of sights is gathered here. An old stone bridge of the XI century, a massive castle, strong walls with a thousand years of history, it can't leave you indifferent! By the way, this is the very place, where some fragments of the film "Perfumer" were shot. After a walk around the town, we can go for a tasting of liqueurs and sweets.
Castellfollit de la Roca. A town on the edge of a precipice, as it's called in Catalonia. It is situated on the edge of the rock at a height of 50 m. You will see an ancient church San Salvador and enjoy the panorama of mountains from the observation platform at the end of the rock. It's amazing, but the town has got just one only street.
Rupit. The town of witches. It grew in a canyon on the frozen streams of lava at a height of 900 m above the sea. According to legend, witches were hiding here from the cruel inquisitors. Now no more than three hundred people live in stone houses and there is a bundle of firewood on the square of the town, in memory of this ominous legend. The guide will tell you the most interesting stories related to this unique place.
