What is enotourism and why is it gaining popularity?

The concept of Enotourism appeared a long time ago, but has begun to gain popularity in recent years. This is a type of tourism, the purpose of which is tasting, consuming and buying wine directly at the winery. The so-called wine tours. And of course, Spain did not take the last place here!

A bit of history:

Enotourism in Spain began to gain momentum from the middle of the 20th century. The main development regions were Priory and Catalonia.
For example, in America, nearly 27 million travelers or 17% of American tourists travel to culinary or wine events. In Italy - about 5 million tourists, and the country annually earns 2.5 billion euros from this.

On a private initiative, Recevin annually hosts an “Enotourism Day” on the second Sunday of November in order to develop the wine tourism industry in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and North America.
Wine tours can be sightseeing or diving, when guests stop right at the winery and participate in grape harvesting and wine production. In Catalonia, the harvest festival is also popular, the so-called "Verema" - when you can come, pick grapes and even participate in its crush. All this is usually accompanied by songs, dances, traditional dinners - in general, fun and productive!
